London International Exhibition Centre (ExCel)
Client: ExCeL • Cost: £175 m • Area: 200,000 sq m

The project started in 1990 as a commission from the Association of Exhibition Organisers to identify a London site for a new international exhibition centre that is comparable to Birmingham's NEC.

The eventual location chosen was an 87 acre site in London Docklands and Moxley Architects and their consultant team progressed to achieving planning approval in early 1996.

The two million square feet scheme comprises exhibition space and support areas of meeting rooms, eating areas, and conference facilities. The facility, completed in 2001 is now home to the London Boat Show and the British International Motor Show.
