Fish Diseases Office & Laboratory, Dorset
Client: Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food • Area: 2000 sq m

The new facilities in Weymouth required a prestigious building that fully accommodated the Ministry's specialist requirements as well as meeting the high specification needed for a conservation area and a marine environment.

The complex has three functions, a veterinary crisis centre, inspection and diagnostic examination of fish and shellfish and finally research. The latter function has five departments - virology, microbiology, pathology, molecular biology and biochemistry.

The practice also designed and oversaw a decanting operation that involved creating both temporary and permanent facilities.
