Northvale Construction took possession of the site in June 2017 and construction is now well underway with the first floor precast planks now installed. The photo, taken in August, shows the open dig basement excavation.

The Show Flat in the 1960’s built, multi-storey office tower block on Parker Street in Covent Garden has opened for viewings.

The structure of Parker Tower is being extensively remodelled to accommodate the change from 1960’s office use to 21st Century residential use, including the addition of three extra floors. Moxley Architects are working with Legendre UK Ltd, the UK arm of Brittany based contractor Groupe Legendre, who were appointed by BNP Paribas as main contractor for the works.

Mike Moxley and his younger daughter, Alice, abseiled The Cheesegrater (the Richard Rogers’ designed Leadenhall Building) on Friday 8th September to raise money for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Northvale Construction Ltd. has been chosen as the Design and Build contractor for the construction of 19 assisted living apartments for the charity Jewish Blind and Disabled. Work has recently started on the site which adjoins the existing assisted living facility, Cecil Rosen Court, in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

The new building is to be connected to the existing Cecil Rosen Court with a glazed link structure at ground level, so the construction team has the challenge of constructing the new building whilst ensuring that the health and safety of the residents of the adjoining facility is not compromised.

Moxley Architects designed the scheme for Jewish Blind and Disabled, and have now been novated to Northvale for the construction phase of the project. Completion is expected in the summer of 2018.

On 9th June we entered a team for Grosvenor Estate’s 16th Annual Dragon Boat Regatta, a charity fund raising event in aid of The Passage – http://passage.org.uk

The venue for the event was the Oakley Court Hotel, Windsor, with the racing taking place over a short course on the River Thames. Each crew could consist of eleven people, ten ‘paddlers’ (not to be confused with rowers!) and one drummer who’s role is to sit at the front of the boat and beat out the time for the paddlers. For this event Grosvenor had decreed that each crew should have two over-fourties and two women.

The Moxley crew, named Malice (the same as Mike Moxley’s yacht) was somewhat disadvantaged. Not only were we two members short, we had three over-sixties, three over-fourties and three women. Needless to say we didn’t do very well and were eliminated at the end of the group stage.

The demolition contract has been completed and now Legendre UK are on site. Major alterations to the 1960s rc frame have started, increasing the size of alternate columns around the facade so that the intermediate columns and beams can be removed.

The structural steel frame for the three storey roof extension is just about to go in to production.

Following the practice’s success in gaining planning approval for the change of use to residential on The Limes, a Grade II* listed property on Mortlake High Street, we were approached by Winch Design, the lease holders of the neighbouring property, The Old Fire Station, to seek planning approval for a new roof extension to provide additional space for their expanding boat and executive aeroplane design company.

A traditional slate clad mansard, with lead detailing and timber sash windows was proposed for the street (south) elevation with a new roof terrace overlooking the river on the north elevation.

Full planning approval was granted on 21st March 2017.

Moxley Architects have been appointed to act as executive architects working with Legendre UK and BNPP to progress the project for the proposed 16 storey mixed-use commercial and residential Parker Tower in Covent Garden. The commission also includes the construction of an adjacent 3 storey affordable housing development.

Louise Gamon hails from Rennes in France, and started at Moxley Architects after gaining her Masters of Architecture from the University of Strasbourg. Before moving to the UK, Louise spent time in Germany, including 1 year in Dresden as part of a University Exchange program, where she obtained a dual nationality degree in Architecture (French and German).

Congratulations to Tim Waterson, who received news last week that he had passed his final RIBA Part III examination. Another qualified Architect at Moxleys! Well done from the whole team, a great achievement!
